evenko et Broadway Across Canada sont fiers de présenter la comédie musicale la plus enlevante de la dernière décennie, BILLY ELLIOT The Musicalà l’affiche pour 8 représentations seulement du 8 au 13 janvier 2013,  à la salle Wilfrid-Pelletier de la Place des Arts.

Basé sur le film au succès international, Billy Ellliot The Musical compte dans son équipe de création: Elton John qui a composé la musique, Lee Hall qui a écrit le livret et les paroles, Peter Darling aux chorégraphies et Stephen Daldry  à  la direction. Le  musical a recueilli d’élogieuses critiques à travers le monde et a remporté dix Tony Awards en 2009, dont celui de meilleure comédie musicale.

Billy Elliot The Musical raconte la joyeuse aventure d’un jeune garçon qui veut réaliser son rêve. L’histoire se situe dans une petite ville et suit Billy, qui d’un ring de boxe, passe à une classe de ballet, et se découvre un  talent caché pour la danse; ce qui inspirera sa famille ainsi que toute sa communauté et changera sa vie à jamais.

En plus d’avoir récolté le Tony Award pour la meilleure comédie musicale, Billy Elliot The Musical a reçu celui pour la meilleure direction (Stephen Daldry); meilleur livret  (Lee Hall); meilleure chorégraphie (Peter Darling); meilleures orchestrations (Martin Koch); meilleure conception scénique (Ian MacNeil); meilleure conception d’éclairages (Rick Fisher); meilleure conception sonore (Paul Arditti); meilleure performance acteur – rôle principal (David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, Kiril Kulish); meilleure performance – acteur de soutien (Gregory Jbara).

La production a été récompensée par 81 prix nationaux et internationaux incluant 10 Tony Awards et a été couronnée de meilleure comédie musicale par le New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Drama League et Outer Critics Circle.

Ben Brantley du  New York Times a écrit que Billy Elliot “Transporte l’assistance en pleine extase ! et Time Out a mentionné, “Le spectacle le plus électrisant et passionnant depuis longtemps.”  The Daily News a qualifié Billy de “Si enlevant que vous avez envie de sauter!”, Liz Smith a déclaré que le spectacle était “Absolument impressionnant”, The New York Observer a écrit que Billy était “La meilleure chose à être présentée sur Broadway depuis longtemps” et Dave Richardson, WOR, s’est exclamé, “Tout ce que je peux dire est WOW !”.

Le spectacle est produit par Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films, Old Vic Productions et NETworks Presentations, LLC. La production met en valeur la conception scénique de Ian MacNeil,  Julian Webber en est le directeur associé, les costumes sont de Nicky Gillibrand, la conception des éclairages est de Rick Fisher et la conception sonore est de Paul Arditti.  La supervision musicale et les orchestrations sont de Martin Koch. La direction de la tournée est assurée par Justin Martin et les chorégraphies sont signées par Kathryn Dunn.
